A fitness studio built in Dauphin, Manitoba, with the intention of making structured, well-coached training genuinely accessible to adults in the community.
PFA Fitness was founded on a straightforward idea: most people are not looking for dramatic promises. They want a place to train that takes them seriously, provides clear instruction, and operates with honesty about what training can and cannot do.
That meant building a coaching team with genuine credentials and a shared commitment to evidence-based practice. It meant creating programs designed around long-term progression rather than short-term excitement. And it meant being transparent about the fact that meaningful fitness takes consistency over months and years — not weeks.
We work primarily with adults: people returning to exercise after a break, people discovering structured training for the first time, and people who have been training for years and want a more purposeful approach. What they share is a desire to do this properly.
We will not tell you what you want to hear if it is not accurate. Our coaches communicate clearly about timelines, expectations, and the effort required to achieve meaningful results. We believe that honest coaching builds better long-term outcomes than motivational overstatement.
Our programs are shaped by established principles from exercise science and sports medicine. We stay current with professional literature and revise our approaches when evidence warrants it. We are not ideology-driven, and we do not favour trends over substance.
PFA Fitness is a community studio. We care about the people who train here and the wider Dauphin community we are a part of. This informs how we price our programs, how we run our sessions, and how we engage with members outside of formal coaching time.
We will not push a client harder than their current physical capacity warrants. Load, intensity, and complexity are increased gradually, and we take injury prevention seriously as a core component of programming — not an afterthought.
What started as a single personal training practice has developed into a full-service community fitness studio. Here is a brief look at how the studio has evolved over the years.
Marcus Dellaway opened PFA Fitness on 3 St SW in Dauphin with a small training space, a handful of initial members, and a clear focus on one-on-one personal training.
Growing member interest led to the introduction of the studio's first small group training sessions. These sessions filled consistently within a few months and became a permanent part of the schedule.
Priya Nallan and Jordan Okafor joined the coaching team, expanding PFA's capacity and bringing new specializations in functional movement and strength and conditioning programming.
In response to repeated requests from new members who felt unprepared for regular group sessions, the Beginner Foundations Program was developed and launched. It quickly became one of the studio's most attended offerings.
The Mobility and Recovery program, led by Priya, was formalized into the weekly schedule. It addressed a gap that members had identified — structured recovery work as part of a balanced training plan.
PFA Fitness reached 400 active members — a milestone that reflects steady, word-of-mouth growth over eight years. The studio has maintained its original commitment to small session sizes and individual coaching attention throughout.
Every coach at PFA Fitness is held to a consistent set of professional standards. Here is what that means in practice.
All coaching staff hold nationally recognized certifications from accredited bodies such as CSEP, NASM, NSCA, or Can-Fit-Pro. Certification standards vary by specialty but must meet a defined baseline.
Our coaches maintain their certifications through ongoing professional development. We encourage attendance at workshops, conferences, and courses relevant to their coaching specialties.
Coaches explain the purpose of exercises, how they relate to the member's goals, and how to perform them safely. Instruction is specific, calm, and adapted to the individual's experience level.
The best way to understand what we offer is to come in and see it. A free consultation takes about 30 minutes and comes with no expectations.
